40TH ANNUAL VENICE FAMILY CLINIC ART WALK & AUCTION CELEBRATES FOUR DECADES OF HEALTH, ART, & COMMUNITY

OVER 200 ARTISTS FEATURED IN THE SILENT AUCTION & 40 ARTISTS WILL OPEN THEIR STUDIOS FOR TOURS

WHAT:
On Sunday, May 19, 2019 from noon to 6 p.m., Venice Family Clinic’s Art Walk & Auction will take place at Google Los Angeles. This is the 40th anniversary of this free community event and art fundraiser in support of the Clinic’s mission to provide quality primary health care for more than 27,000 people in need, regardless of their income, insurance or immigration status.

This year’s event will highlight the works of more than 200 artists on view in a silent contemporary art auction, including 2019 signature artist honoree Laura Owens. All works will be available for online preview and bidding on Paddle8 beginning May 1.  

Additional activities and activations will offer fun for all ages including tours of local artists’ studios, pop-up creative workshops, live music, a beer and wine garden,food trucks, a family fun zone and more.

 

WHO:
The 40th annual silent art auction features significant pieces from Laura Owens and over 200 emerging, midcareer, and established artists which include:
Charles Arnoldi, John Baldessari, Gary Baseman, Billy Al Bengston, Andrea Bowers, Matthew Brandt, Rosson Crow, Guy Dill, Laddie John Dill, Sam Durant, Timo Fahler, Shepard Fairey, Amir H. Fallah, Kim Fisher, Sam Francis, FriendsWithYou, Piero Golia, Ramiro Gomez, Alexandra Grant, DJ Hall, KAWS, Toba Khedoori, Edward Kienholz, Kelly Lamb, Dash Manley, Mike Miller x RETNA, Jennifer Moon, Andy Moses, Laura Owens, Raymond Pettibon, Vanessa Prager, Robert Rauschenberg, Ry Rocklen, Ed Ruscha, Alison Saar, Analia Saban, Gregory Siff, The Haas Brothers, Austyn Weiner, and many more.

40 local artists will also open their studios to benefit the clinic for Venice Art Walk’s Artist Studio Tours which include: Austin Art Projects presents Doug & Sharon Britt at The Chuck Arnoldi Studio, Jim Budman, Laddie John Dill, Jean Edelstein, Greg Falk, Alejandro Gehry, Tanja Skala, and more.

Special Project for the 40th Anniversary: Over the last several decades, an “unofficial mascot” began to grab the attention of both collectors and attendees: the iconic ceramic Blue Dog by Venice-based artist Gary Steinborn. As an ode to this beloved piece, Venice Family Clinic collaborated with 40 artists who created one-of-a-kind ceramic pups to commemorate this milestone year. Participating artists include Kelly Akashi, Kelly Berg, Ben Jackel, Jules Muck, Ramona Otto, and more.

This is the only time that Google opens its Frank Gehry-designed doors to the public.

 

Artist Studio Tours

COST: Tickets are $40: available online or on-site at Google on Sunday. Includes complimentary shuttle service to each studio and a 40th anniversary limited edition T-shirt.

 

WHY:

All Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction proceeds support the Clinic’s health care services at 12 locations as well as homeless outreach units across Los Angeles. Since its inception in 1979, when a group of Clinic supporters gathered with local artists (many of whom were Clinic patients), the Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction has raised over $20 million to help the Clinic provide comprehensive primary care for people in need. venicefamilyclinic.org
