About the Clinic

Venice Family Clinic provides high quality comprehensive health care to families and individuals who might otherwise go without the care they need.

Vision

To improve the health of people and communities through accessible, quality care.

Mission

To provide quality health care to people in need.

History

Venice Family Clinic was founded in 1970 by Philip Rossman, MD and Mayer B. Davidson, MD. Back then, volunteer physicians and other dedicated individuals provided basic medical care after normal business hours at the UCLA Dental Clinic on Lincoln Boulevard. Today, Venice Family Clinic is a leading community health center that serves patients from across Los Angeles.

On November 1, 2021, Venice Family Clinic merged with South Bay Family Health Care, a community health center founded in 1969 and operating 5 clinics. Venice Family Clinic has now expanded to a network of 17 locations, plus multiple mobile clinics and an extensive street medicine program. A team of more than 500 staff and 1400 volunteers delivers care to 45,000 people with compassion, dignity and respect. Our service area spans from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay.

Since our inception, the Clinic has continued to expand the scope and comprehensiveness of our services to meet our community’s needs. Our innovative, integrated approach addresses the unique combination of clinical and social factors that impact our patients’ health

50 Years of Health

In 2020, Venice Family Clinic celebrated 50 years of working for health equity. The Clinic marked the milestone in multiple ways:

  • recognized 50 Visionaries who have positively impacted the health of our patients and our community
  • launched a virtual Health + Justice series to encourage conversation about pressing issues that impact our patients’ health
  • hosted a star-studded virtual celebration
  • invited the community to join us in a Week of Action.
