What is a Doula?

Doula (“Doo-LAH”) is a Greek word that means “woman servant”. Doulas serve women during pregnancy, childbirth and in the first weeks after the birth. Doulas are trained and certified professionals who provide health education, emotional support, physical comfort and advocacy to women and birthing persons during pregnancy, labor and birth and during the first few weeks after the birth. Doulas help families have informed, empowered, respectful and satisfying childbirth experiences.

Doulas provide:

● Breastfeeding Support

● Labor Coping Skills & Comfort Measures

● Encouragement & Emotional Support

● Advocacy for Respectful, Evidence-Based Care

“My doulas were compassionate, knowledgeable, intuitive and led by a pure purpose to serve mothers, children and families in need. I feel completely overwhelmed with gratitude! Thank you, earth angels! — LESLIE S.
