VENICE FAMILY CLINIC
ART WALK + AUCTION
05.10 – 05.19

PAST. PRESENT. FUTURE.

For 46 years, Venice Family Clinic Art Walk + Auction has celebrated the artists and collectors whose generosity has helped raise money for vital health care in our community. This year’s exhibit pays tribute to the rich diversity of Los Angeles’ creatives across generations, honoring the past, present, and future of our city’s vibrant talent—all while supporting the Clinic’s mission.

We are proud to showcase a dynamic selection of established, mid-career, and emerging artists. This year, we have the great privilege of spotlighting Lita and Isabelle Albuquerque as our joint Signature Artists—two visionary forces whose profound legacy embodies the inspirational role of the family in their work, as in ours.

Proceeds from the auction will fund Venice Family Clinic’s innovative and comprehensive programs and services which deliver quality health care to over 45,000 people in need from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay.

VENICE FAMILY CLINIC ART WALK + AUCTION
AT A GLANCE

  • In 1979 the first Venice Art Walk was organized by volunteers including Irma Colen, Ruth Bloom, Sheila Goldberg and Laura Maslon with architect Frank Gehry and artists Ed Ruscha, Lita Albuquerque, John Baldessari and many others.

  • Thanks to the generosity of these pioneering artists, volunteers and patrons, Venice Art Walk has raised over $24 million to provide vital health care to hundreds of thousands of Angelenos over the past four decades.

  • 1000+ artists, as well as volunteers, galleries, curators, and collectors help Venice Family Clinic advance greater health equity by donating and collecting artwork at this annual event.

  5. Check the ‘Text Messages’ box (for bids, purchases, and event announcements).
  6. Click ‘Create my GiveSmart Account’.
  7. Click ‘Ok’ within the All Set Message to complete Registration.

Follow our step-by-step guide on what to expect when you bid in an online-only auction.

  1. Go to VFCartauction@givesmart.com
  2. Choose ‘Create Account’ or ‘Login’

Once you have registered, you will receive a welcome text message linking you to the items where you can browse, bid, or buy.

  1. Click on the Blue link in the Welcome text to be directed to the Items page.
  2. View items by category or search by item number or name.
  3. Click the item of interest to view the description as well as the current bid and or price.
  4. The system will auto-populate the bid amount based on the set increment for the item.
  5. Choose to bid at the set amount or higher.
  6. Click ‘Bid’.

Allow the system to automatically bid up to a designated amount for you. The system will bid incrementally up to the amount designated should someone else bid against you. If no one bids against your auto bid, the price remains the same.

  1. Click the item of interest.
  2. Click the ‘Auto Bid’ tab
  3. Enter the maximum amount you would like to bid
  4. Click ‘Bid’.

Note: When two bids are placed for the same amount, the bid placed first wins. Timestamps are set when the initial bid is placed. For auto bids, this is based on when the maximum was set, not when the system prompted the bid to win.

Users are unable to change bids after submissions, however, if you need assistance please contact eharnisch@mednet.ucla.edu

If you are outbid, then you will receive a text message that states “You’ve been outbid on ITEM NAME, ITEM NUMBER, Reply ‘ITEM# AMOUNT’ to increase your bid to AMOUNT or visit PERSONAL BIDDING LINK. ”

If you would like, you can text back a bid amount or return to the item and place a bid until it is closed.

After the auction is closed and reconciled, we will send an email or text message to the winner with a payment link for the item.

If you are outbid, you will get a message that you have been outbid. It will also be visible on the ‘My Activity’ page that you have not won the item you bid on.

There is no guaranteed way to ensure you will win, but the auto-bid feature will help you stay on top of the highest bid. By entering the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item, the system will automatically place bids for you in the minimum increments up to that amount.

Within the ‘My Activity’ button in the Items section, you can see all items you have marked as your favorites or that you have made bids on.

If you are actively winning, a banner will appear to show that you are in the lead. Additionally, you will be alerted when you are outbid on an item.

Select items will be available for direct purchase at a set price, bypassing the bidding process. In this case, the listing will have a ‘Buy Now’ tab next to the bidding tab, and the auto-bid feature will be disabled.

Once someone purchases the item through ‘Buy Now’, bidding is no longer an option and that sale will close immediately.
