OUR HERITAGE
In 1970, Venice, California was a very different place: its infrastructure was crumbling, and transportation, jobs and healthcare were nil. The young families, artists and veterans who lived here had no place to turn for medical care.
Community activists and volunteer doctors, Dr. Phillip Rossman and Dr. Mayer Davidson, came together to found Venice Family Clinic. Neighbors and clinicians gave their time to serve the hundreds of children, adults and older people every week—working nights and weekends out of a borrowed UCLA dental clinic. And because we’ve lived our motto, high-quality care delivered with dignity and respect, the Clinic has grown year after year.
TODAY
Today, Venice Family Clinic serves 45,000 people through 21 locations, including clinics, school-based sites, Early Head Start centers, mobile clinics and satellite locations at partner agencies stretching across the Westside of Los Angeles, Inglewood, the South Bay and everywhere in between.
Naming Opportunities at our Flagship Clinic on Rose Avenue
In 1980, we purchased our first permanent home at 604 Rose Avenue in Venice, thanks to the generosity and vision of donors led by the tireless Irma and Lou Colen.
