Venice Family Clinic’s Gala to honor health + art across our communities.

Venice Family Clinic’s HEART (Health + Art) initiative is a celebration of creativity and compassion coming together to advance health care for all. At the HEART Gala we will convene the artists, businesses, and philanthropists who inspire us.

Health and art have been interwoven in the Clinic’s culture since 1979 when volunteers and artists created the Venice Family Clinic Art Walk + Auction, which has grown to become a fixture in our community.

Today the HEART initiative builds on this tradition. We honor the imaginative and innovative individuals who enable us to increase access to medical, mental health, and other vital health care services to help make Los Angeles healthier.

The inaugural HEART Award will be presented to Morleigh Steinberg and The Edge from U2, supporters of Venice Family Clinic who exemplify the spirit of HEART.

Morleigh and The Edge have been enthusiastic supporters of the Venice Family Clinic Art Walk + Auction, opening ARCANE Space for studio tours during the Art Walk and donating The Edge’s photography to be displayed and sold in the benefit auction.

About our Inaugural Award Honorees

Morleigh Steinberg and The Edge are an influential multi-hyphenate creative couple.

Morleigh’s artistic practice extends from a life long exploration of movement which has led to a life as dancer/choreographer, video/ filmmaker, lighting designer, artist and co-director of ARCANE Space, a gallery in Venice, CA. The Edge is a musician, singer and songwriter, who is best known as the guitarist for U2.

With an eye for photography Edge also created a book of his photographs for the 30th anniversary of U2’s The Joshua Tree album; images shot in 1987 of the band and Death Valley landscapes. Morleigh, a second generation Angeleno, toured the world extensively with her own dance companies and has made work for many renowned artists including U2, who she has been working with as a creative consultant since 1992.

In 2017, Morleigh co- founded ARCANE Space, curating the work of a wide range of artists – both those of note and those who may not yet have had the opportunity to exhibit. Morleigh and The Edge recently returned from Las Vegas where U2 completed the 40-show U2:UV Achtung Baby Live residency at The Sphere which was a production that melded U2’s iconic music with a stunning display of art and technology.

Morleigh and The Edge have been enthusiastic supporters of the Venice Family Clinic Art Walk + Auction, opening ARCANE Space for studio tours during Venice Art Walk and donating The Edge’s photography to be displayed and sold in the benefit auction.
