Venice Family Clinic’s SUMMIT program—Substance Use, Motivation and Medication Integrated Treatment—offers compassionate, nonjudgmental care for people who use drugs and alcohol. Our team follows a harm reduction approach, which means we support patients at any stage of their recovery journey without pressure or judgment. Patients help to create their own treatment plan and choose the services that align with their personal goals. Sobriety not required.
SUMMIT is available to Venice Family Clinic patients of all ages and offers services both in person and by telehealth
Care Provided
Medication for Substance Use Disorders
Prescription medications to help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms for opioids and alcohol. These treatments support stability and safety while you work toward your personal goals.
Individual and Group Therapy
Counseling and support groups led by trained therapists and substance use counselors. Whether patients are just beginning treatment or continuing recovery, we offer a nonjudgmental space to build insight and resilience. Click here to learn more about our Behavioral Health services
Case Management
Ongoing support to help patients stay engaged in treatment and connect with other resources. Our team works alongside you to address health, housing, and other social needs that impact recovery.
Referral Coordination
Referrals for additional care, including psychiatric support, are available to help patients access the right level of care quickly and efficiently.
Community Resources
Help with health insurance, food assistance, housing support and referrals to inpatient detox and recovery programs. We connect you with wraparound services that support recovery beyond medical care.

Who can receive substance use treatment through SUMMIT?
SUMMIT is available to Venice Family Clinic patients of all ages who are receiving primary care with the Clinic.
Do I have to stop using drugs or alcohol to get help?
No. SUMMIT uses a harm reduction approach, which means you can get support even if you are still using. We’ll help you stay safer and work toward the goals that matter most to you.
What medications are available to help with addiction?
We offer medications like buprenorphine and naltrexone and other tools when appropriate, but treatment is always based on your needs and preferences.
Can I get counseling without taking medication?
Yes. You can choose counseling, case management or other services with or without medication.
What if I need more intensive treatment, like detox or inpatient care?
We can connect you to outside programs that offer more intensive treatment, including detox and residential recovery programs.
