The Role of Intuition

What is the role of intuition in Street Medicine? Why is it important? Intuition is also known as: A gut feeling, sixth sense, inner voice, in the zone, a feeling or hunch; for example, an “In the zone experience” when the team intuits what to do in a certain challenging situation.
Consider the role of intuition: Gut + gathered evidence + your experience.
Suggestions for fostering intuition:
- Pay attention to your instinctive gut reaction and that of the collective team.
- Base decisions on your experience.
- Gather your evidence.
- Observe the space, behaviors and the settings in which you work.
- Learn from your hindsight—“Hindsight is 20/20.”
