Los Angeles, CA (February 14, 2020)—In response to the Trump administration’s budget proposal, which includes deep cuts to Medicaid, housing assistance, food programs, and other social safety net programs, Elizabeth Benson Forer, chief executive officer and executive director of Venice Family Clinic, issued the following statement:

“Venice Family Clinic vehemently opposes the administration’s budget proposal to slash $150 billion from Medicaid over 10 years. These deep spending cuts would have a devastating impact on people in need. Medicaid – which is called Medi-Cal in California – is the backbone of our health care system for the working poor and other people who have limited financial resources to cover their basic needs. We call on Congress to protect the health of all Americans by rejecting the administration’s irresponsible proposals to slash Medicaid.”
