Internship opportunities in Special Events

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated interns to join our Special Events Team.

 

Applicants for all of the internships listed below should meet these qualifications:

  • Deadline-and solution-oriented
  • Effective communicator and presenter
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and project management skill
  •  Professionalism with donors, visitors, and team members
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc…)
  • Familiarity with Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) a plus but not mandatory

Salary and Schedule

These are unpaid internships, but you may be eligible to earn college credit for your service hours. Internship start dates are flexible. Applicants will ideally work 2-3 shifts a week, and a minimum of 8 hours a week during normal business hours (Mondays-Fridays from 9am-5pm).

Interns may be asked to fulfill additional hours during the week leading up to events. Interns must commit to working the weekend of Venice Art Walk (Friday, May 1 – Sunday, May 3). We require interns to have reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license, as there will be some driving necessary. Interns must be able to lift up to 10lbs and be comfortable walking or standing for extended periods of time.

Special Events Intern

Special Events Interns to assist in the production of Venice Family Clinic’s three anchor events: Children’s Holiday Movie (Dec 2019), Venice Art Walk (May 2020), and Silver Circle Gala (Sep/Oct 2020). Our development teams at the Clinic raise over $10M each year to provide nearly 28,000 low-income men, women, and children access to comprehensive and quality health care. Be part of a passionate team that helps our shared community!

Interns will support the Special Events team with event production, donor management and research, general admin and operational duties, and interface with external stakeholders as needed. This role provides interns with invaluable hands-on leadership experience during events.

Individuals with an interest in event production, development/fundraising, and community relations are encouraged to apply. No prior experience necessary, but a familiarity with local events in the Los Angeles area is a plus.

Responsibilities include

  • Correspond via email with external and internal stakeholders and donors
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of records and donor information
  • Research and solicit in-kind donations
  • Support local stewardship and development/distribution of event marketing materials
  • Provide general administrative support (i.e. supply organization, pickups, deliveries, mailings, etc.)
  • Train volunteers on the day-of Venice Art Walk, Silver Circle Gala, and Children’s Holiday Movie
  • Assist with event-day execution (i.e. sign placements, supply organization, etc.)

Art Collections Intern

Art Collection Interns will primarily assist in the production of Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction. This iconic event is the Clinic’s largest annual fundraiser, and interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the team that has helped shape Southern California’s art scene. Venice Art Walk will be held at Google’s Los Angeles Headquarters on Sunday, May 3, 2020.

As an intern, you will gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience as you work closely with the Art Curator and the Events Team. You will help execute and curate a 300+ contemporary silent art auction that takes place on the day of Venice Art Walk. You will be trained to be an Art Docent Guide and will have the opportunity to share your knowledge with patrons and develop a deeper understanding of the art market. Furthermore, you will have an opportunity to connect with prospective artists, get exclusive access to our esteemed roster of artists. Most importantly, you will play a crucial role in helping the Clinic raise over $1 million in critical funds to provide nearly 28,000 low-income men, women, and children with access to comprehensive and quality health care.

Individuals with a background or interest in art history, teaching, and design are encouraged to apply. No prior experience necessary, but a familiarity with contemporary art and terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities include

  • Update and maintain database
  • Coordinate logistics for art pickups, drop offs, and shipping
  • Handle artwork, which may include receiving, unpacking/packing artwork; hanging artwork
  • Develop working relationships with artists
  • Provide general administrative/ operation support (i.e. solicitation calls, deliveries, mailings, marketing etc.)
  • Train volunteers on collection handling practices and take on other leadership roles on the day-of Venice Art Walk
  • Assist with event-day production (i.e. sign placements, supply organization, setup, calls to patrons, etc.)

Artist Studio Tour Intern

Artist Studio Tour Interns primarily assist in the production of Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction. This iconic event is the Clinic’s largest annual fundraiser and interns have the opportunity to work closely with a team that has helped shape Southern California’s art scene. Venice Art Walk will be held at Google’s Los Angeles Headquarters on Sunday, May 3, 2020.

Help execute a 50+ artist studio tour that takes place on the day of Venice Art Walk. Artist studio tours gives patrons the opportunity to meet artists in their studios and ask questions and get to know their creative process. As an intern, you will have an opportunity to connect with prospective artists, get exclusive access to our esteemed roster of artists, gain valuable knowledge of the art market, and receive training to be a Studio Tour Docent. Most importantly, you will help the Clinic raise over $1 million in critical funds to provide nearly 28,000 low-income men, women, and children with access to comprehensive and quality health care.

Individuals with an education or interest in art history, teaching, and design are encouraged to apply. No prior experience necessary, but a familiarity with contemporary art and terminology is a plus

Sponsorship Sales Intern

Sponsorship Sales Interns assist in the production of Venice Family Clinic Art Walk & Auction. This iconic event is the Clinic’s largest annual fundraiser, and interns will have the opportunity to work closely with a team that has helped shape Southern California’s art scene. Venice Art Walk will be held at Google’s Los Angeles Headquarters on Sunday, May 3, 2020.

This role is responsible for aiding the Events Team during multiple campaigns throughout the year. Interns will develop and build a corporate portfolio by conducting research to identify prospective donors and prepare compelling letters of inquiry. This revenue stream helps raise over $1 million in critical funds to provide nearly 28,000 low-income men, women, and children with access to comprehensive and quality health care.

Interns will gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience as they work closely with the Events Team to develop a deeper understanding of local markets. Interns must be comfortable with extensive internet research and are required to have professional phone etiquette.

No prior experience necessary but individuals with a history in retail/sales with proven results and a familiarity with the Los Angeles area is a plus.
