December 5, 2015 – 28th Annual Children’s Holiday Movie Highlights

On December 5th, Anthem Blue Cross presented Venice Family Clinic’s 28th Annual Children’s Holiday Movie, where 1,200 low-income and homeless kids and their families were treated to a movie, toys, activities, and pictures with Santa. Each year more than $140,000 is raised to bring health care to nearly 24,000 Los Angeles residents in need. Click here to view our photo album of the event!

Celebrity guests came to volunteer and show support, including Justin Baldoni of “Jane the Virgin,” along with LJ Benet (Disney’s Dog with a Blog), John DeLuca (Disney’s Teen Beach Movie), Monty Geer (MTV’s Awkward), Adam Irigoyen (Shake It Up), Merit Leighton (Disney’s Sofia the First), Jax Malcolm (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Kroll Show), Xolo Mariduena (Parenthood), Marlowe Peyton (Dance Off), Dani Rey (Empire), Joshua Rush (Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Parental Guidance), Melissa Santos (Miss California Latina) and Jennifer Razo (Miss Teen California Latina).

Dr. Michael Wilkes, host of  "A Second Opinion,” a weekly KCRW radio show examining policy and medical care, discusses whether substance abuse treatment should be considered "essential coverage" by the state-approved health insurance plans that will be offered as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Interview starts at 2:40 and concludes with a mention of a potentially groundbreaking study at Venice Family Clinic that will test whether a team approach to substance abuse improves patient outcomes.
